From 1944, Szabolcs Vajay (1921-2010), historian, genealogist and heraldic historian, lived in Argentina, France and Switzerland. His book collection and writings are conserved by the Joseph Károlyi Foundation. His legacy let to the Károlyi castle in Fehérvárcsurgó is composed of two parts: his book collection (6,000 books), which you can find in the ornamental library, and his own writings (letters, researches, first drafts.)
The library has historical, genealogical, heraldic book, mainly in English, Hungarian, German and French, and some in Italian, Spanish and other languages.

The library is completed by Szabolcs Vajay’s catalogs in which you can search information about Hungarian families and coat of arms. The personal part of the legacy includes Szabolcs Vajay’s letters (mainly about genealogy), documents related to institutions and first drafts of his works.
The library offers an access to the Internet and the possibility to make copies. The searchers who want to have access to this collection have to make a request with the Joseph Károlyi Foundation and have to indicate their field and the goal of their researches.
